Duties Description

Coordinates, directs and provides professional nursing care to residents of the Nursing Home under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Administrator. Notes: 1. If you fail to maintain your license and/or registration once you are appointed, action will be taken to remove you from the position. 2. To be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you can not be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists. If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists, you may be terminated from your employment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess a license and current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.

Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health St. Albans Veterans Home employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Registered Nurse 1, Grade 18.

Current New York State employee with one or more years of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service

in a position eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, to a Registered Nurse 1, Grade 18.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the Geriatric population

This position is at the NYS Veterans' Home in St. Albans, NY. We are a 250-bed skilled nursing facility for Veterans and their dependents.

One permanent, competitive or non-competitive, full-time appointment.

The posted salary range ($115,146 - $124,138) includes statutory hiring rate and an increased hiring salary of $9,196, plus an additional geographic pay differential of $35,000. In addition to a downstate adjustment of $4,000. There is also Shift Differential pay increase (Evening Shift 7%, Night Shift 10%).

If applicable, the inconvenience pay program of $575 per year will be paid to employees who work four (4) hours or more between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Hours worked between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on an overtime basis are not included for Inconvenience Pay.

This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
